How does Plantnode capture data from PLC’s?

Plantnode supports OPC (OLE for Process Control) via Kepware that allows for signals to be taken from PLC’s of many different manufacturers.

This means Plantnode can show machine states or take production counts, for instance, from your existing PLC’s.

The benefit of Plantnode over a solely based PLC system is that signals may be taken from additional sensors and sources that may not normally be measured. The added benefit of bar-code scanning means that context can be added to a raw machine state – a PLC may simply say that a machine or process has stopped where a bar-code scan will indicate the reason such as no materials or no operator.
